About Lyndhurst School
Lyndhurst School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged three to eleven, founded in 1895 and owned by the Sugden Family Trust. The school is governed by members of the Sugden family, who serve as trustees, alongside three independent governors. It is divided into three sections: Little Lyndhurst for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, the Lower School for Years 1 to 3, and the Upper School for Years 4 to 6. The school aims to foster traditional values within a modern approach, placing pupils at the heart of a strong and supportive community. It seeks to nurture each child's well-being, promote a genuine love of learning, and support pupils in reaching high standards of academic achievement, all in keeping with the school's motto to inspire. Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds and are drawn largely from the local area. Most are of British ethnicity, with others coming from a broad mix of nationalities and cultures. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those identified as particularly able or with special talents in sport and music, ensuring the curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to meet a variety of needs.
