About The New Beacon School

The New Beacon School is an independent day and boarding school for boys aged between four and thirteen, set within 21 acres of grounds on the outskirts of Sevenoaks, Kent. Founded in 1900, the school has grown over the years, adding new facilities to its original site. It is divided into four sections — pre-prep, junior, middle, and senior — catering for boys from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 8. Flexible boarding is available from Monday to Thursday nights, with boarders housed in three dormitories accommodating eighteen boys in total. The school is owned by a charitable trust and managed by a board of governors. Its aim is to ensure that every boy is valued regardless of his ability, and to help each pupil reach his full potential through good teaching and encouragement, within a broad and balanced education. The school strives to create an environment where pupils feel happy and healthy, and where respect for learning, consideration for others, and self-esteem are all encouraged. Most pupils are of white British or European heritage, with others from Asian or black British backgrounds, and the majority live within ten miles of the school. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, those learning English as an additional language, and those who show particular ability or talent in areas such as sport, drama, or music. The curriculum is adapted to meet these varied needs.
