About St Mary's School (Gerrards Cross)

St Mary's School is an independent day school for girls aged 3 to 18, located in Gerrards Cross. Founded in 1872 in Paddington, the school moved to its present site in 1937. It has a Church of England foundation, is a registered charity, and is governed by a board of trustees. The school aims to provide a wide-ranging, well-balanced, challenging and exciting education within a caring and happy environment. Underpinned by a value system based on tolerance and high moral standards within a Christian context, it seeks to develop independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and responsibility, helping pupils to achieve their potential and take their place in the world with poise and assurance. Pupils come largely from professional and business families and from a range of social and ethnic backgrounds. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, with additional help provided individually, in small groups and within the classroom. More able pupils are given opportunities to extend their learning in the classroom and through enrichment activities, while those talented in sport, creative and expressive arts can develop their skills through specialist coaching and a range of competitions.
