About Wolverhampton Grammar School
Wolverhampton Grammar School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 7 to 18, set in its own grounds a mile from the city centre of Wolverhampton. Founded in 1512, the school originally opened as a boys' school before becoming fully co-educational in 1992. It is governed by a board of directors and has recently expanded to include a junior school for pupils aged 7 to 11, as well as a new sports pavilion. The school aims to provide an education that transforms lives as well as minds, tailored to each individual child within a community built on openness, trust, and mutual respect. Pupils are encouraged at every stage to develop a broad range of skills and values that will help them make a positive contribution in the world. The school welcomes pupils from white British and a variety of ethnic backgrounds, all living locally. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and additional help is on hand for those who speak English as an additional language. The school also recognises and nurtures its more able pupils, both within lessons and through extra-curricular activities.
