Widford Lodge School is an independent day school on the outskirts of Chelmsford, welcoming children from the age of 2 through to 11. The school is organised into three sections: an Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 2 to 5, a pre-prep for those aged 5 to 7, and a prep school for pupils aged 7 to 11. Founded in 1935 and owned by the founding family, the school has been co-educational since 1995 and draws its pupils largely from the local area. The school aims to offer a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares children for the wider world, within a purposeful and secure environment. Central to its ethos are the values of honesty, courtesy, and respect for others. Pupils come from a range of backgrounds, predominantly from business and professional families. The school is attentive to the needs of all its learners, providing additional support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as for pupils for whom English is an additional language.
