About Wetherby Preparatory School

Wetherby Preparatory School opened in 2004 and is a single-sex school for boys. The school is divided into two departments: lower school for pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5, and upper school for pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8. It is part of the Alpha Plus Group, which holds corporate governance responsibility for the school. The school aims to provide an education in the round, nurturing pupils intellectually, physically, socially and morally. Its goal is to prepare boys for a wide range of senior schools and to give them firm foundations for a balanced and accomplished adult life. This is pursued through consistent pastoral care, an academic curriculum designed to raise aspirations, and a broad range of clubs, sporting activities and visits. Most pupils come from professional families living within 10 miles of the school, reflecting the multicultural character of the local area. The school provides support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and makes curriculum adaptations for those identified as more able. Two pupils receive support for English as an additional language.
