About Tormead School

Tormead is a day school for girls aged 4 to 18, situated in a suburb of Guildford. Founded in 1905, the school has been on its current site since 1915, growing its property and facilities over the years. The junior school, which includes an Early Years Foundation Stage setting, is housed in buildings across the road from the senior school. Pupils come from Guildford and the surrounding area, within a radius of approximately 15 miles, and represent a range of backgrounds. At the heart of the school is a genuine commitment to creating a happy, caring and supportive atmosphere. Tormead encourages every girl to develop her individual abilities and talents, while also nurturing tolerance, respect, personal responsibility and the ability to work as part of a team. The school places a strong emphasis on instilling a love of learning, independent thinking and the self-confidence needed to face the challenges of adult life. In recent years, the school has invested in its facilities, adding new teaching and learning spaces built around a central atrium, a new library, a specialist design and technology room, and additional classrooms. An enhanced digital infrastructure has also been introduced to support the use of tablet computers across the school site.
