About Rydes Hill Pre-Prep and Nursery School
Rydes Hill Preparatory School is an independent day school for girls aged three to eleven, also welcoming boys up to the age of seven. Founded in 1945 by the Daughters of Mary and Joseph, the school is housed in a seventeenth-century town house in Guildford. Ownership passed to a charitable trust in 1989, which was established to continue the work of the founding order, with the charity's trustees serving as the board of governors. The school is guided by Christian values of love and kindness, faith and courage, hope and perseverance. It aims to promote a purposeful and disciplined environment in which every child is encouraged to reach their full potential, to be recognised as a unique individual, and to have equal opportunities to develop their talents and make their own contribution. Pupils come mainly from professional and business backgrounds and mostly live within 40 minutes of the school. The school has good facilities for the performing arts and outdoor learning areas for its youngest children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, alongside an adventure playground. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring all children are well looked after throughout their time at the school.
