About Thetford Grammar School
Thetford Grammar School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged between 3 and 18 years. Founded in the 10th century, the school was a state grammar school for much of the 20th century before becoming independent in 1981. It is owned and managed by Thetford Grammar School Limited, supported by an advisory board of governors. The school is structured into EYFS, prep, senior and sixth form departments. Pupils come from the local town and its wider geographical area, and the school also welcomes a small number of international pupils, mostly from China, who live with host families. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and for those for whom English is an additional language, through individual and group lessons as well as classroom teaching. The school aims to provide a personalised education that celebrates each child as an individual, identifying their strengths and encouraging them to grow through a stimulating curriculum and strong pastoral care. It seeks to cultivate an international outlook that prepares pupils for life beyond school and inspires them to contribute positively as global citizens.
