About Aurora Eccles School

Aurora Eccles School is an independent, co-educational day special school that has been welcoming pupils since 1945. Part of the Aurora Group since 2017, the school is governed by the group's central team. A primary department on an adjacent part of the site operates separately as Aurora White House School. The school's aim is to help every pupil achieve the best possible outcomes in their learning, independence, and personal growth. Alongside academic studies, it supports pupils in developing their social, communication, and interaction skills, and in building the confidence to make appropriate choices in life. Pupils come from a wide range of backgrounds across Norfolk and Suffolk, and a small number from other local authorities, within a fifty-mile radius of the school. Almost all are funded by their local authority and hold an education, health and care plan. Their additional needs include moderate learning difficulties, communication and interaction difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs, with a large majority of pupils having autistic spectrum condition. A small number of pupils aged 16 to 19 stay on each year to complete examination courses.
