About The Elms School

The Elms School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 3 to 13. Founded in 1614 by the philanthropist Humphrey Walwyn in association with The Worshipful Company of Grocers, the school is run as a charitable trust governed by a board of governors. It is set in a rural location and has recently restructured its curriculum. The school aims to help every pupil be the best they can be, encouraging a can-do attitude and a willingness to embrace challenge without fearing failure. Pupils are supported to be aspirational, grounded, and proud members of their community. Pupils come from a range of professional and cultural backgrounds and represent a broad spread of abilities. The school provides additional specialist support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, as well as for those for whom English is an additional language. Provision is also tailored for pupils identified as more able, and for those with particular talents in areas such as sport, music, and swimming.
