About Malvern College
Malvern College is a co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 13 to 18, founded in 1865. The college became co-educational in 1992 following a merger with Ellerslie School, and is governed by a council, many members of which are Old Malvernians. Pupils are organised across eleven boarding houses, with day pupils fully integrated into house life and sharing meals together. The school is structured into a Lower School, where pupils prepare for GCSE examinations, and a sixth form offering A-level and International Baccalaureate courses, with a small number of students also completing a one-year pre-sixth course. The school draws pupils from a range of professional and business backgrounds, and the boarding community represents some 30 different cultural and language backgrounds. Specialist support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as for those who speak English as an additional language, and the curriculum is adapted for the most able pupils and those with particular talents in sport. At the heart of Malvern College is a commitment to what the school calls the Malvern Qualities — a set of deep-rooted values that guide school life. The college aims to nurture a balance between individual achievement and collaboration, developing pupils into confident, articulate young people who are respectful of others and ready to play an active part in the wider world.
