About Stoke College

Stoke College is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged between 5 and 16 years. Founded in 1951, the school moved in 1954 to its current home set in 25 acres of parkland overlooking the river Stour. The main building has its origins in a monastic college dating from the 15th century, giving the school a distinctive and historic setting. The school is a non-denominational charitable trust, governed by a group of governors drawn mainly from professional backgrounds, most of whom are parents of current or former pupils. Academic ability is not taken into account in admissions, and the ability profile of pupils is in line with the national average. Pupils aged from 4 to 11 attend the prep school, while those aged between 11 and 16 attend the senior school. Weekly and flexible weekday boarding is available for girls and boys aged 9 and over. At the time of the most recent inspection, the school had 113 pupils. Most are White British, coming from a range of professional and farming backgrounds and living within a 25-mile radius of the school. The school aims to help every pupil grow in confidence, make strong academic progress, and benefit from a broad range of experiences, whilst developing a respect for others and a desire to contribute positively to life.
