About Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School
Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School is an independent day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls aged between 6 months and 13 years. Founded in 1959 and established on its current site in 1970, the school is owned and led by the proprietor, who also serves as headmaster. Boarders are accommodated within the main school building, with girls' and boys' houses on separate floors, whilst the nursery occupies its own purpose-built accommodation. The school also benefits from extended facilities for art, music, design technology and sport. The school aims to provide a secure and stimulating family environment in which all children can enjoy a wide range of educational, physical and artistic opportunities, helping them to achieve their potential and leave as confident and caring individuals. Pupils come from a range of professional family backgrounds, mostly living within 15 miles of the school, and the school community includes children of many different nationalities and cultures. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with SEND and those for whom English is an additional language, ensuring that every child receives the help and encouragement they need to thrive.

Mobile Phone Policy
Boarding pupils have access to their mobile phones for 30 minutes each evening before going upstairs. No phones are allowed in the dormitories, around school or on trips. When not being used, they are kept in a secure charging cabinet. A mobile phone agreement is in place and agreed with parents. The school operates an effective filtering system which, in addition to safeguarding routines, helps keep pupils safe. Children are made aware of internet safety through work in PSHEE and computing lessons. Phones are checked for age-inappropriate apps and, if a child is in receipt of unsuitable material, the SDSL is informed and action taken as appropriate.
