About St John's Priory School
St John's Priory School is an independent day school welcoming boys and girls aged three to eleven. Founded in 1847, the school is housed in a beautiful grade II listed building that was once a priory, with a separate building used as an art studio. The school is led by its head teacher and governed by two proprietors who have held their roles since 2011, supported by an educational adviser. The school aims to create an environment where children feel safe, confident, and cared for, with the freedom to enjoy learning. It is committed to providing a broad and rich curriculum that meets a range of learning styles, challenging and encouraging every child to reach their potential. The school also places great importance on fostering tolerance, understanding, and respect, ensuring pupils are well prepared for the next stage of their education. Pupils come from Banbury and the surrounding villages, representing a wide range of backgrounds. The school supports children with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, those who speak English as an additional language, and those who show particular talents in areas such as sport, art, and music. The curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to meet the needs of all learners.
