About St Albans School
St Albans School is an independent day school situated in the centre of St Albans. Founded in 948 A.D., the school has a long association with the Abbey and has occupied its present site since around 1870. It welcomes male pupils in Years 7 to 11, and both male and female pupils in the sixth form. The school is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The school aims to nurture a range of values including integrity, empathy, humility, courtesy and generosity. It seeks to help pupils develop skills such as problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, independence, resilience and reflection, with the aspiration that each pupil flourishes intellectually and personally, finding meaning and purpose in life. Pupils come mostly from professional and business backgrounds and the school population reflects the ethnic diversity of its local communities, with most pupils living within a 15-mile radius of the school. The school provides additional support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and offers enrichment and challenge for all pupils in line with their abilities.

Mobile Phone Policy
In years 7 to 11, all pupils use Yondr pouches (a secure bag which is unlocked with a special magnetic locking device). Mobile phones are turned off and locked in their Yondr pouch throughout the school day. In the sixth form, mobile phones are turned off during lessons unless permission has been granted to use the phone for educational purposes. Sixth formers may not use mobile phones when moving around the school site or when walking off the school site, such as going to town at lunchtime.
