About South Lee School
South Lee School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged between 2 and 13 years. Children in the Early Years begin their journey in the Nursery and Reception, before moving through the pre-prep in Years 1 to 3 and on to the prep department in Years 4 to 8. Founded in 1961, the school has grown steadily over the decades, adding new buildings and facilities including classroom blocks, a hall, a science laboratory, a computer room, a new prep school, and more recently a sports and performance centre. The school operates as a charitable trust, overseen by a board of governors, of which all parents are members. The school aims to provide challenging, inspiring, and individualised education that fosters a genuine love of learning and a desire to work hard. It strives to create a caring and stimulating environment where pupils can develop their interests, build positive relationships, and grow in their understanding of different cultures and the wider world. Teamwork, leadership, and a sense of responsibility towards others are all qualities the school actively encourages. The school is home to a varied community of learners, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, a number of whom receive additional specialist support. Provision is also made to stretch the most able pupils through a modified curriculum, ensuring every child is supported and challenged according to their individual needs.
