About Royal Masonic School for Girls
The Royal Masonic School for Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 2 to 18, also welcoming boys aged 2 to 4. Founded in 1788 to educate the daughters of Freemasons, the school moved to Rickmansworth Park in 1934 and opened its doors to girls of all backgrounds in 1978. It is a registered charity governed by a board of governors supported by five sub-committees. The school encompasses a pre-school, pre-preparatory and preparatory departments, and a senior school with sixth form. Boarding is available from Year 4 through to the sixth form, with pupils accommodated in three houses organised by age group. The school aims to provide a holistic, values-based education in a nurturing environment where the atmosphere is collegiate rather than competitive. It seeks to offer a broad curriculum that develops self-esteem, encourages independence, and inspires a genuine love of learning, alongside strong individual pastoral support for every pupil. The school is socially and culturally inclusive and supports a wide range of learners. Specialist help is available for pupils with special educational needs, and additional support is offered to those for whom English is an additional language. Provision is also tailored for the most able pupils and for those with particular talents in sport, music, and drama.
