About Pownall Hall School
Pownall Hall is an independent day school for boys and girls aged between two and eleven years, situated on a nine-acre site around a listed building in Wilmslow. The school was founded in 1895 and moved to its current location in 1934, becoming fully co-educational in 1998. It is a charitable trust administered by a board of governors, with classroom and specialist facilities housed in accommodation of varying ages. The school aims to provide a caring, disciplined, safe and secure family environment where all pupils are encouraged to make the most of their academic, sporting, musical and creative potential. It seeks to instil traditional values of courtesy, good manners, mutual respect, tolerance and compassion, while helping pupils develop self-discipline and good working habits for the future. Pupils come from a range of professional and managerial backgrounds, mostly from White British families living within a ten-mile radius of the school. The school supports pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as the most able or as having special talents, with the curriculum modified accordingly.
