About Oswestry School
Oswestry School is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 4 to 18, situated in the centre of the market town of Oswestry. Founded in 1407, the school has a long history of welcoming pupils from a wide range of backgrounds. It holds a broadly Anglican ethos whilst warmly embracing all faiths and none, in keeping with its original non-denominational spirit. The prep school, Bellan House, caters for pupils aged 4 to 11 and sits in its own grounds a short distance from the main senior school campus, where boarding is available from the age of eleven across two houses. Both schools are overseen by a single headmaster and governing body, giving the community a reassuring sense of unity and shared purpose. The school aims to create a happy environment in which every pupil is celebrated as an individual. With an emphasis on intellectual, spiritual and physical development, it seeks to educate the whole child and help all pupils reach their potential. Pupils come largely from families within a 25-mile radius of the school, and the school provides additional support for those with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as more able or as having particular talents in the creative arts and sport.
