About King's College School, Cambridge

King's College School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school founded in 1441. It has a long-standing role educating the choristers of King's College Chapel, and is governed by a body chaired by the Dean of the College, which includes fellows of the college, independent governors, and the Director of Chapel Music. The school welcomes both day pupils and boarders, with day pupils drawn from Cambridge and the surrounding area, while boarders come from both locally and further afield. The school is organised into three sections: a pre-prep for Reception to Year 2, including an Early Years Foundation Stage setting; a junior section for Years 3 and 4; and a senior section for Years 5 to 8. Choristers, both male and female, follow a curriculum carefully balanced to support their academic development alongside their specialist musical training. A choral training programme for female choristers, the Schola Cantorum, has also been established. The school aims to nurture kindness and respect for others, both within its community and more broadly. It seeks to inspire curiosity and creativity in its pupils, and to help them develop the resilience and courage they will need to meet life's challenges.
