About Highfield Priory School
Highfield Priory is an independent day school for boys and girls aged between 6 months and 11 years, situated on the outskirts of Preston. Founded in 1938, the school moved to its current site in 1979 and is run as a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors. The youngest children, from six months to three years, are cared for in a dedicated building called The Bungalow, set within the school grounds and with access to all the school's facilities. The rest of the school, including the pre-prep which covers pre-school, reception and years 1 and 2, is housed in the main building, which has been remodelled and added to over the years. Pupils come predominantly from professional and business families in Preston and the surrounding area, representing a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. The school aims to encourage every pupil to develop their full potential by nurturing intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm and imagination, whilst building the self-confidence and independence needed to play an active role in society. Additional support is available for pupils with special educational needs, and extension and problem-solving activities are provided for the most able, alongside a range of clubs catering for those with particular talents in sport, art, music or drama.
