About Devonshire House Preparatory School

Devonshire House Preparatory School is an independent day school in Hampstead, London, welcoming boys from two and a half to thirteen years of age and girls from two and a half to eleven. Founded in 1989, the school occupies two sites in large Victorian houses that have been thoughtfully adapted for educational use. It is organised into three sections: the Nursery, which covers the Early Years Foundation Stage for children from two and a half to five; the junior school for pupils aged five to eight; and the upper school for those aged eight to thirteen. The school is committed to providing a caring, happy and safe environment that supports both learning and personal development, with a focus on high standards of teaching, individual care, and the encouragement of initiative. The school's community is drawn from a range of professional backgrounds and cultural traditions. Provision is made for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia, dyspraxia and autistic spectrum disorder, and classroom teachers support those for whom English is an additional language. The curriculum is also adapted to stretch the most able pupils and those with particular gifts or talents.
