About Christ's Hospital

Christ's Hospital is a co-educational boarding school in West Sussex, welcoming around 907 pupils aged 11 to 18. Most pupils are boarders, living in one of 18 centrally located houses, with two of these houses offering co-educational accommodation for pupils in their final year. A smaller number of pupils attend as day pupils. Founded in 1552, the school has a rich history rooted in providing a home and education for those in need. That commitment endures today through a charitable foundation that arranges means-tested bursaries for a large majority of pupils, with most coming from maintained school backgrounds. The school aims to help every pupil reach their full academic potential while nurturing their individual talents, interests and ideas within a caring community that values respect, self-confidence, a sense of service, and a love of learning. The school supports a wide range of pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those with particular talents in areas such as sport, drama or music. The curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to meet these varied needs, ensuring that all pupils are well supported throughout their time at the school.
