About Buckingham Preparatory School
Buckingham Preparatory School is an independent day school for boys aged 2 to 11 and girls aged 2 to 4, founded in Kenton in 1937. It moved to its present location in 1997 and is owned and governed by E. Ivor Hughes Educational Foundation. The school is organised into three departments: Early Years Foundation Stage for pupils aged 2 to 5, Pre-Prep for those aged 5 to 7, and Prep for pupils aged 7 to 11. The school aims to fulfil pupils' academic and social potential, nurturing self-confidence, resilience, self-discipline and an understanding of community and cultural diversity. It seeks to provide a positive and supportive learning environment that helps pupils develop the skills they need for the next stage of their lives. Pupils come from a wide area in north-west London and represent a large range of religious and ethnic groups. The school supports pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, and it adapts its curriculum for its most able pupils and those with particular talents in areas such as art, design and technology, sport and music.
