Bowdon Preparatory School for Girls is an independent day school for girls, operating as a charitable trust since 2011. The school is governed by a board who also serve as trustees, and it draws its pupils primarily from Altrincham and the surrounding area, from a range of professional family backgrounds. At the heart of the school is a genuine commitment to nurturing a love of learning. The school aims to build good work habits and independent, critical thinking skills, while fostering a community grounded in courtesy, tolerance and responsibility. The school welcomes girls of a range of needs and backgrounds, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, with additional specialist support available where needed.
