About Aldenham School
Aldenham School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, founded in 1597 by Richard Platt and still occupying its original site. The school is divided into three sections: a pre-preparatory department for children aged 3 to 7, a preparatory school for those aged 7 to 11, and a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 18. Boarders from Year 7 upwards are accommodated across five residential houses. The school is a registered charity, governed by a board that includes representation from the Brewers' Company and other local bodies. The school aims to help every pupil develop their intellectual, physical, and cultural talents through appropriately stretching goals, whilst nurturing an understanding of the social, moral, and spiritual dimensions of modern life. It also seeks to prepare pupils well for the challenges they will encounter in the future. Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds, mostly from London and the surrounding counties, with some joining from overseas. The school supports a wide variety of learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, pupils for whom English is an additional language, and those with particular talents in sport and the creative arts.
