About Abingdon School
Abingdon School is an independent day and boarding school for boys, situated on a site it has occupied since 1870. With roots stretching back to the 13th century, the school is based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and operates as an incorporated charitable trust governed by its governing body. In 1998 it joined with its preparatory school to form the Abingdon Foundation. Boarding is available from the age of 13, with pupils accommodated across three houses on the main school campus. The school aims to balance strong academic achievement with a broad range of extracurricular activities and personal development, with the goal of sending young people into adult life as well-rounded individuals who are curious about the world and ready to meet its challenges. Pupils come from a variety of professional and business backgrounds, with most living locally. Boarders include both local pupils and those from other countries. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, those for whom English is an additional language, and those with particular talents in sport, as well as providing further opportunities for its most able pupils.
