About Westbrook Hay School

Westbrook Hay Prep School is a co-educational day school welcoming pupils aged from 2 to 13 years, set in a rural location outside Hemel Hempstead. Founded in 1892 and run as a charitable trust since 1983, the school is governed by a board of governors. It occupies a handsome neo-Georgian mansion, thoughtfully adapted for school use and complemented by a number of modern buildings, including purpose-built facilities for both the pre-prep and prep sections of the school. The school is organised into two sections: pre-prep, covering the Early Years Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2, and prep, covering Years 3 to 8. The school aims to develop happy, confident and successful children who are well prepared for their future. Pupils come from families with predominantly business and professional backgrounds in Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties. The school provides additional support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those requiring help with dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia, as well as for pupils who speak English as an additional language. Pupils identified as gifted and talented are offered additional curricular opportunities to provide stretch and challenge.
