About Walhampton School

Walhampton is an independent day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls from the age of two through to thirteen. Founded in 1948 and later merging with Hordle House School in 1997, the school is set within a main house that also provides boarding accommodation. The Pre-Preparatory department, which includes the Early Years Foundation Stage, is based in separate premises, and the school is run as an educational trust overseen by a governing body. The school aims to create a joyful and dynamic environment where pupils develop a genuine love of learning alongside academic excellence. There is a strong focus on character, nurturing qualities such as resilience, curiosity, creativity and compassion. Outdoor learning, an appreciation of nature, and meaningful links with both the local and wider community are all central to school life. Pupils come from a range of business and professional families, from the local area, London, and overseas. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, ensuring appropriate provision is in place for all. The curriculum is also adapted to stretch those identified as having particular talents across areas including sport, drama, music, science, technology, and computing.
