About The Richard Pate School
The Richard Pate School is an independent co-educational day school welcoming pupils aged 3 to 11. Founded in 1946 and part of Pate's Grammar School Foundation — a charity with roots going back to 1574 — the school moved to its current site in 1987. It is organised into three sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3 to 5, a prep school for those aged 5 to 7, and a junior school for pupils aged 7 to 11. The school aims to provide a high-quality education tailored to the needs of each child, helping them build confidence, independence and cooperative skills within a supportive, close-knit community where every child feels valued. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds and mostly live within a 15-mile radius of the school. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities such as dyslexia and speech and language difficulties, as well as pupils for whom English is an additional language. The curriculum is also adapted for more able pupils and for those with particular talents in music and sport.
