About The Hawthorns School
The Hawthorns is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 2 to 13, set within a 35-acre estate in the Surrey countryside, close to Redhill. The school's buildings are arranged around a Jacobean manor house, combining historic character with more contemporary facilities. Founded in 1926, it moved to its present location in 1961 and has grown over the decades to welcome both boys and girls throughout the school. The Hawthorns is owned by the Hawthorns Educational Trust Ltd, a registered charity, and is administered by a board of governors. The prep school is organised into Lower, Middle and Upper schools, and the school has developed programmes in independent thinking as well as conservation and outdoor education. The school holds high expectations for every pupil, guided by a commitment to academic achievement, a breadth of opportunity, pastoral care and social responsibility. It warmly supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs, English as an additional language, and those who are identified as more able or gifted and talented in areas such as music, sport and drama.
