About Stanborough Secondary School
Stanborough Secondary School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 11 to 16, situated on a 40-acre site in Garston, just outside Watford. Founded in 1919, the school is owned by the British Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and is governed by a board of governors, some of whom are members of that organisation. The current school complex was completed in 1991. As a Christian school, Stanborough aims to give each pupil the structure and support they need to achieve academic success, while also helping them develop the social skills to engage confidently with the wider world. The school also seeks to encourage all pupils to live according to Christian values. Pupils come from a range of backgrounds and faiths, drawn from both the local area and further afield. The school welcomes pupils of broadly average ability and provides additional specialist support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Pupils identified as more able or as having special talents are also catered for through a modified curriculum, and further support is available for those who speak English as an additional language.
