About St James Senior Boys' School
St James Senior Boys' School is an independent school for boys aged 11 to 18. It shares a governing body with the St James preparatory school and senior girls' school, with each school also having its own governors' committee. The school is organised into three sections: a lower school for Years 7 and 8, an upper school for Years 9, 10 and 11, and a sixth form. The school aims to develop open-hearted young men who are able to lead full and useful lives in the service of others. It seeks to build good character by instilling moral and ethical values and through training in self-awareness, stillness and attention. Pupils come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and live within a 15-mile radius of the school. The school supports 93 pupils identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, all of whom receive additional specialist help. English is an additional language for 16 pupils, supported by their classroom teachers. The curriculum is also modified for pupils identified as more able, as well as for those with special talents in sport.
