About St Helen's School

St Helen's School is an independent day school for girls aged three to eighteen, founded in 1899 in Northwood, north west London. Set on a 20-acre site, the school has separate buildings for its different age groups: Little St Helen's for the youngest pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Years 1 and 2, a junior school for Years 3 to 6, and a senior school for Years 7 to 13. The school is a registered charity governed by a council of trustees. The school has an academically selective intake and draws pupils from a wide catchment area across the north and west of London and the surrounding counties. Its pupils come from a range of professional, business, social, and ethnic backgrounds. Around a third of pupils are identified as highly academically able or as having particular gifts or talents, and teachers take this into account in their planning. The school also provides additional support for a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. St Helen's aims to give every pupil the opportunity to achieve academic excellence while also developing personal skills, emotional resilience, and confidence, with the goal of enabling them to play a full and active part in their wider community. Sixth form pupils have access to the Extended Project Qualification as part of the curriculum offer at that level.
