About Shrewsbury House School

Shrewsbury House School is an independent day school for boys aged between 7 and 13, situated on a six-acre site in Surbiton, south-west London. Founded in 1865, the school is based around an old mansion house, with purpose-built classroom blocks and facilities set within the grounds. A further seven acres of grass playing fields are located nearby in Chessington. The school has extended its facilities in recent years to include a sports hall, classroom block, theatre and assembly hall, music department, design and technology room, art room, library, three science laboratories, an all-weather surface and an upgraded swimming pool. A charitable trust, established in 1979, now oversees the school alongside two others, with the governors serving as trustees of all three. The school aims to develop independent, curious and passionate learners, guided by five core values: integrity, respect, perseverance, compassion and aspiration. Pupils come from within a ten-mile radius of the school, and the school supports a range of learning needs across its community, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as the most able.
