About Salisbury Cathedral School

Salisbury Cathedral School is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 3 to 13, with a history stretching back to 1091. The school has long been home to the boy choristers of Salisbury Cathedral, and to girl choristers since 1991. It has a Christian ethos and a close, enduring relationship with the Cathedral, whose governing body, the Cathedral Chapter, plays a role in the oversight of the school. The school is situated within the Cathedral Close and occupies two sites owned by the Cathedral, with younger pupils in the Nursery through to Year 3 on one site and older pupils in Years 4 to 8 on the other, centred on the Bishop's Palace. The school aims to provide a rounded and fulfilling education in which pupils gain confidence and develop a genuine love of learning. Alongside academic and musical excellence, it offers a broad range of creative, physical and leadership opportunities to help pupils grow and prepare for life ahead. Its boarding community is central to this, providing a warm and caring environment grounded in Christian values. Pupils come from a range of professional families, and the school offers tailored support for those with special educational needs, additional language requirements, or exceptional talents in areas such as music, sport, art, drama, and design technology.
