About Chafyn Grove School
Chafyn Grove School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, founded in 1876 and run as a charitable trust with a board of governors. The school welcomes children from the Early Years Foundation Stage (ages 3 to 4) through to the end of prep school (age 13), with a pre-prep department for ages 5 to 7 and a prep department for ages 8 to 13. Boarding is available from Year 3, with flexible options ranging from one night a week to full boarding. The boarding house has separate sections for boys and girls, alongside shared common rooms. Most pupils come from a broad range of professional backgrounds and live within a 20-mile radius of the school, with a small number of European boarders also forming part of the community. The school supports 43 pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and seven pupils for whom English is an additional language receive specialist support. At the heart of school life are the values of courage, compassion and curiosity. Chafyn Grove aims to provide an environment of enjoyable challenge, helping pupils to discover their strengths and learn positively from their weaknesses. The school strives to offer breadth, balance and depth across a wide range of opportunities, underpinned by strong, meaningful relationships between pupils and their teachers. Recent developments include an expanded library, a wellbeing hub, a performance hall, and the introduction of Spanish across the school.
