About Queen's College Taunton
Queen's College is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged from birth to 19, situated about a mile from the centre of Taunton. The school spans several sections, from Highgrove Nursery for the youngest children, through the Pre-Preparatory and Junior School, to the Senior School. Boarding is available from age seven, with younger boarders accommodated in a mixed junior and senior boarding house and older pupils in three senior houses. Founded in 1843, the school was established to educate Methodist boys and has welcomed girls since 1972, now having almost equal numbers of both. It is a registered charity and part of the Methodist Independent Schools' Trust. The school aims to provide a caring, family-oriented community grounded in Christian values, welcoming pupils from a range of backgrounds and cultures, and supporting them to become thoughtful, confident and resilient young people. Pupils come from a variety of professional backgrounds, with many families living within an hour's drive of the school. Boarders join from a number of overseas countries as well as from UK military families. The school supports a wide range of pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those with particular talents in areas such as sport, music and the performing arts.
