About Oakfields Preparatory School
Oakfields School is an independent preparatory day school welcoming boys and girls aged two to eleven. Founded in 1988 as a day nursery in Gidea Park, the school moved to its current home at Harwood Hall, Upminster in 1993. It is part of Cognita Schools Ltd, which oversees its governance. The school is organised into two sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage, covering Nursery and Reception, and the preparatory school, for pupils in Years 1 to 6. At its heart, Oakfields aims to inspire and empower pupils with a passion for learning, whilst nurturing each child's individual abilities and talents in a supportive environment. Pupils come from a range of backgrounds that reflect the local area. The school offers tailored support for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, holds provision for pupils with education, health and care plans, and adapts its curriculum for its most able learners. A small number of pupils speak English as an additional language.
