About Mylnhurst Preparatory School and Nursery
Mylnhurst Preparatory School and Nursery is an independent co-educational day school situated in Ecclesall. Founded in 1933 by the Roman Catholic Sisters of Mercy, the school became a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity in 1996, and is now under lay management with a governing board of directors. The school welcomes children from the age of 3, with an Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3 to 5, and a Prep department for pupils aged 5 to 11. The school aims to provide a nurturing and secure environment that places well-being at its heart, inspiring pupils through rich, broad, and balanced experiences within and beyond the classroom. It seeks to instil a sense of responsibility as local, national, and global citizens, and to cultivate confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset within a challenging and supportive Christian community. The majority of pupils come from professional and business families of British origin who live within a ten-mile radius of the school. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, pupils with education, health and care plans, and those for whom English is an additional language. Provision is also adapted for pupils identified as more able.
