About Sheffield High School for Girls

Sheffield High School is an independent day school for girls, founded in 1878 and situated in the Broomhill area of Sheffield. The school is part of the GDST family of schools and is overseen by GDST trustees and executive officers, supported by a local governing body. The school has brought all of its sections together onto a single site and has completed a programme of refurbishment to its classrooms, laboratories, and outdoor spaces. The school aims to nurture a love of learning and curiosity, encouraging pupils to explore, question, and challenge. It seeks to help every girl develop confidence and pride in herself as she prepares to make a difference in an ever-changing world. Pupils come from a broad mix of backgrounds, drawn predominantly from South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. The school welcomes girls with a wide range of needs and abilities, including those with special educational needs and disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, offering tailored support where needed. Additional provision is also made within the curriculum and co-curriculum for more able pupils.
