About Millfield School
Millfield School is a co-educational day and boarding school founded in 1935, set within a 240-acre site in Street, Somerset. Most of its 19 boarding houses are located on or close to the campus, with three a short distance away. The school is governed by trustees of a proprietorial charitable company, which also oversees Millfield Preparatory and Pre-preparatory schools. In recent years, indoor centres for cricket and golf have been added to the facilities. The school aims to help pupils discover and develop their individual abilities through academic, sporting, and artistic opportunities, fostering self-esteem, resilience, and leadership skills along the way. It seeks to nurture considerate, self-confident, and socially adept young people within a supportive community. Pupils come from a wide range of backgrounds, with around a third from overseas, representing some 70 different nationalities. The school welcomes pupils of varying abilities and has strong provision for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. English as an additional language support is also available. Specialist coaching and adapted timetables are offered for pupils with particular talents in sport and music, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
