About Leicester High School for Girls

Leicester High School for Girls is an independent day school for girls aged 3 to 18, located in Leicester. Founded in 1906 as a Christian foundation, the school warmly welcomes pupils of all faiths and none. It has been based on its current site since 1926 and is overseen by a board of governors, which has responsibility for both the junior department and the senior school. The junior department caters for girls aged 3 to 10, while the senior school serves those aged 10 to 18. The school is home to a diverse community of pupils, the majority of whom come from Leicester and the surrounding villages, reflecting the ethnic diversity of the local area. At the heart of the school is a commitment to creating a friendly, caring environment where every individual is valued. The school seeks to foster intellectual curiosity, a love of learning, and academic excellence, whilst also nurturing creativity, self-belief, and personal values such as respect, understanding, and determination.
