About Leehurst Swan School
Leehurst Swan School is an independent co-educational day school welcoming pupils aged from six weeks to 16 years. The school has a rich history, having been founded in 1911 as a Roman Catholic school for girls. It moved to its present site in 1914, and following a merger with The Swan School in 1996, it became known as Leehurst Swan School in 2007. The main building dates from the late 19th century, originally a family house, with further buildings added over time. The school is a charitable trust administered by a board of governors. The school is organised into three sections: the pre-prep, which includes provision for children from six weeks to five years; the preparatory school covering Years 1 to 6; and the senior school for pupils in Years 7 to 11. Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds, with a greater ethnic diversity than the surrounding area. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language. At the heart of the school is a commitment to providing a happy, purposeful community rooted in Christian values, where every pupil is encouraged to reach their potential. Social responsibility and an appreciation of the talents and needs of others are promoted alongside the celebration of each individual's unique interests, and the school values its links with the wider community.
