About Embley
Embley is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, founded in 1946. Following a merger with the Atherley School in 2005, it became part of United Learning, whose trustees hold responsibility for its governance, supported by a local advisory board. The school warmly welcomes pupils from nursery through to sixth form, with a boarding house available for pupils aged 11 and above. The school aims to create an environment where everyone works collaboratively to encourage academic ambition, belief in oneself, and compassion for others. All pupils are valued as individuals, with the opportunity to take part in a rich and diverse co-curricular programme, underpinned by a culture of respect for oneself and others. Pupils come from families with predominantly professional backgrounds, and boarders join from both the United Kingdom and overseas. The school supports pupils with a wide range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, pupils who speak English as an additional language, and those identified as the most able. The curriculum is also modified for pupils with special talents in art, sport, music, and drama.
