About Derby Grammar School
Derby Grammar School is an independent day school situated in Littleover, Derbyshire, welcoming male pupils aged 4 to 18 and female pupils aged 4 to 11 and 16 to 18. The school has been on its current site since 1995 and operates as a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors. In recent years the school has grown, lowering its admission age to four in September 2019 and becoming co-educational at primary level in September 2022. The school aims to provide an education that enables pupils to flourish individually, encouraging independent thought, expression and learning in an atmosphere where intellectual challenge and enjoyment go hand in hand. The hope is that pupils leave equipped with a breadth of skills and knowledge to help them achieve both in school and in later life. Pupils come largely from professional family backgrounds in Derby and the surrounding area. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, pupils for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as more able or as having a particular talent in areas such as sport, music, drama, art and design technology.
