About Clifton High School

Clifton High School is an independent co-educational day school situated in a suburb of central Bristol. The school was established in 1877, originally as a senior school for female pupils, before later adding a co-educational junior section and becoming fully co-educational in September 2009. It is a registered charity, governed by a council of governors who are also the proprietors. The school's overarching aim is to realise individual brilliance, ensuring that all pupils enjoy learning, appreciate a holistic education, and try their very best within a safe environment. Four values — curiosity, empathy, love and direction — are central to school life, with each pupil valued for the person they are and supported in the direction they have chosen. Most pupils live in Bristol, with others travelling from neighbouring counties, and families come from a range of professional, creative and business backgrounds. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those with English as an additional language, with specialist help and tailored support available where needed.
