About Canbury School

Canbury School is an independent co-educational day school, established in 1982, welcoming pupils aged 11 to 18. It comprises a senior school for pupils aged 11 to 16 and a sixth form for pupils aged 16 to 18. The school is a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors. The school is intentionally small, and this size is central to how it supports its pupils. A large number of pupils have special educational needs and/or disabilities, and all of them receive specialist support for a wide range of learning difficulties. The sixth form is housed in a purpose-built building with tutorial rooms and a common room, and offers a range of Level 3 BTEC and A-level courses, alongside classes preparing pupils for resit examinations in English and mathematics. Sixth-form pupils also undertake a weekly work experience placement as part of their curriculum. Pupils come from professional and business backgrounds in west London and other parts of the south east. The school seeks to provide a nurturing environment where pupils can flourish in a stimulating, supportive and caring atmosphere, with a varied and balanced curriculum adapted to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities, especially those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
