About Blundell's School
Blundell's School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18, situated just outside Tiverton. Founded in 1604 and settled at its present site since 1882, the school is a long-established educational charity governed by a board of trustees. Pupils join most commonly at 11, 13, or 16, and each is allocated to one of the school's seven boarding houses, all located on the main site. The school aims to provide a rounded education for the whole person, nurturing ambition alongside humility and a spirit of service. It seeks to give pupils both the security of strong friendships and personal values, and the confidence and enthusiasm to flourish in the wider world. Pupils are welcomed regardless of their faith background. The school's community is a varied one. Day pupils largely come from within 20 miles of the school and represent a range of family and social backgrounds, while boarding pupils come from a number of different countries. The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with SEND and those for whom English is an additional language, and it makes curricular adjustments for its most able pupils as well as those with particular talents in areas such as sport, music, and drama.
